Going to Orlando

As this will be our first trip to Florida and particularly Orlando, we would appreciate any information or hints on what and what not to do in the area, we will have one week, have already booked the accommodations and have wheels so looking forward to seeing as much as possible in and around the area within a 100 miles.
Appreciate any hints.

RE: On The Road To Alaska

We arrived back in Dawson Creek, Saturday the 21st and it is packed everywhere - all RV parks and every parking lot. We know of 5 big caravans that should hit Whitehorse this week. One with over 50 units. So not sure how that computes but the road getting here was very busy as well. Phoning a day or two in advance for a RV site would help.
Good luck and good travels, sure want to thank everyone for all the great advise and help along the way, It's been great will look in often to the forum.

RE: On The Road To Alaska

We have travelled the whole route, Prince George, Dawson Creek, Whitehorse, Dawson City, Fairbanks, Anchorage, Homer, Seward, back to Whitehorse, Watson Lake. It was a great trip and one we will probably never do again. It was very interesting to see everything for the first time and to experience all we did.
But I had a hard time with RV Parks in Anchorage wanting over $45.00 per night and in Homer as high as $85.00.
I have missed something along the way. It is beautiful country - don't get me wrong but why are we the targets to get enough to last the rest of the year. I'm sorry we have travelled most of the USA and most of Canada but never before have we felt victims.
Most Fred Meyers and Walmarts, Legions, Elks, welcome visitors but the government agencies force the companies into posting signs that you will be towed if you try parking overnight.
Where that happened we left. With the price of fuel if you are going to Alaska everyone needs to watch there pennies. So we had to have one night in a park and one out.
The tours we took - I felt bad for them operating at less than 50% capacity.Frustrated - you bet, hope I'm the only one.
Edited for political rant. Sorry, but a travelogue is only that.

RE: On The Road To Alaska

Can anyone tell me how the road is to Anchorage to Valdez and from Valdez to Whitehorse? Just been from Homer - Deep Creek - Cooper's Landing - Seward - Roads are good with a few frost heaves but nothing serious
The combat fishing starts tomorrow on the Kenai.
Fuel prices in Seward are $5.36 for diesel.
Everyone have a good trip

Have above set up and unable to receive a signal in central Alaska. Will be heading to south of Anchorage. Does anyone have a suggestion of why you do not get a signal?

RE: On The Road To Alaska

If you fuel at truck stops or the larger stations, most of the larger stations have diesel, so that makes your accessibility a lot easier. Also, go into the stations that are on the outside of town or along the freeway, also, Costco, Walmart, Sam's Club. Most of the new stations are also larger, than the corner gas pumps.

RE: On The Road To Alaska

We have been using the Milepost and so far it has been right on. Haven't found anything different than what they say. Only problem we had was Blue Spruce in Prince George with the clerk sending us to a sight where the trees had not been trimmed so a Class A could get in and out properly. They had very few. Happy trails.

RE: On The Road To Alaska

Stayed in Pioneer RV Park in Whitehorse, awesome, great place to clean the rig, wash the dog and very reasonable, best fuel prices around, lots of room and very friendly, even got the windshield repaired for $25.
Stayed one night at Pelly's Crossing (free) at the RV Park on the west of the Pelly River, had a wonderful evening.
Arrived in Dawson City and tried Goldrush, downtown, full hookups $38 - no cable, very clean and friendly and close to everything.
Weather has been phenonable in the mid 20's - 75-80. Had great burgers in Riverbend Rest. - awesome at least a 9.

RE: On The Road To Alaska

We stayed in Blue Spruce Campground in Prince George, very rutted and we were told that we had wi-fi from the campsite but not. The trees are not trimmed and not good for a Class A hard to get around in the park.

how to bring in a weak signal for internet

My computer has a built in wireless connection and the park I'm in has wi-fi but I'm on the fringe and I'm wondering if anyone has a suggestion on how to bring the signal in any better than very low. I keep losing the connection.

RE: Tracvision In Motion Satellite

On the set up screen it advises you what type of signal you are receiving and in a good situation it has both good quality and a good signal. It states the quality is good but no signal, cannot quite understand that?
